just wondering the thoughts of others in consideration to 3 Total weight classes...... i differ from Gary in his thoughts of max particpation with his classes to have maximum payout.....if you are going to have 3 classes.....what would be ideal? I would think there are alot of inbetweens that will not go for 65, 98, 98+ this has been talked about and may change nothing, but lets see...

I voted for the last one but I liked the old weight classes better. I am one of those in between people and the old 185 lb class is better for me personally. The 98 lb class is good but for a money tournament there are guys that will drop a lot to get there! So that leaves me out

I think the 98 cut off it too much. I understand, the logic because, it forces Brzenk, Bath, Barbosa, Nelson and Todd to all have to pull in the same class with Underwood, Bresnan, Lupkes, Bagent etc. Those are the dream match ups that everyone wants to see, but it will defenitely keep away the next level down guys like Hirst, McPherson, Flemming, my old man, Chaffee etc and that's a shame. I think all tournaments should just use WAF classes as the standard and I don't see why Gary couldn't have a hell of a tourney with the 54, 76, 98, 220, 220+ . I agree with Aaron about the best 54's being able to win in the 76 class so, you could possibly leave off the 54 class if you had to. Then in the 220's, if John announces he's coming to pull that class it doesn't becomes a ghost town (like the Harley Pull) if Gary's paying down to 5th because, Vigeant, Chaffee, Hirst and a ton of other 220 guys still have a reason to go and have a shot at getting paid.
I would vote for 4 classes 76, 98, 220, 220+

lets hear it.....is it a secret or something??? d*mn.....gotta love those kind of posts... Giles, i hear all the other weight classes for sure and to have 4 would prolly be ideal.....but Gary wants max payout to produce max participation....and if he is going to do that, i would think you could change the weights and get more of what he wants.

The max payout theory is flawed. If he's gonna go with those 3 classes, why not just do a 1 class open, Over the Top II tourney. Then, he could payout to 15th place. We might even see Bull Hurley, Mark Ray and Sasquatch come out of retirement for that type of event. LMAO
Or just do 198 & 198+. Because, my man Hirst has as good of shot of beating Lupkes as Ray Jenkins has of beating Rakers..........................How-u-Doin?

Actually Over the Top had weight classes.
With 4 classes you can't pay down to 6th and still have it be worth it to come.
It does not matter were you put the splits in weight there will always be guys in the middle.
Suck it up guys. The weight difference really isn't that big of a deal. Those who think the weight differences are a problem, probably are not going to place anyway

Well put Bob. To be the best you have to beat the best. ...Youre right...IN YOUR OWN WEIGHT CLASS .....not 20 lbs up or giving up maybe 100 plus lbs in the heavies ...see the point?

Those who think the weight differences are a problem, probably are not going to place anyway I was jokingly referring to the movie tourney, not the real ones. So, why not just have an open weight tourney then? That's the best way to pay out the most money to the best pullers. Why did Mike Bowling stop giving the Harley to the overall champ? I just don't think the classes that he is offering are going to draw the most entries, but we'll see. BTW, I don't have a horse in the race, they're offering my weight class, but I'm not ready for the big show yet. I'll be there next year IF there's a 198 class and IF were not in the middle of another great depression.......

since gary is trying to draw with deep money, i understand what he is doing and you cant have 5-6 classes or it will be like every other $ tournament
But i do think 3 is too small. $ might be the magic number and yes some people may have to pull someone 10 + pounds more than the top
i like 65 87 215 and over or 70 98 230 and over
If had to go 3 I would go 75 210 and over

You can go on side-stepping the question if you want...and you can have people jump on saying "be the best you got to beat the best".....BUT at what weights? with all your knowledge of the sport at what weight will you get the best light, middle and heavy weight pullers out to a tourney......is 65s, 98s and + the best weights you can come up with....and yes there will always be inbetweens.....but given that is the classes given is the best that can be done in your opinion?
