A great loss to the sport and the world!! RIP Perfectly said. The world is worse today than it was yesterday, and Heaven is better for it.

This saddens me Greatly!!..I have no words to express my shock at this news...Cleve Dean was and will always be an Original and an Icon of our sport..My fondess memory of him was in Petaluma in 1982 i believe, where i was a puller and i had came all the way from Alaska and didnt have a place to sleep or money to eat....He and Sue his wife let me stay in their hotel, fed me and drove me to The S.F Airport the next day!! What a Awesome man he was...
I will miss him..Rest in the Lords Arms now my friend...

Myself, Dave Patton and Cleave with a couple of others went in a bar after Yukon Jack one time and when the waitress went to seat us, I told her "that table won't work". She rudely told me that we had to sit their. I told her to look at the last guy with us. She said "Holy crap" and found us another table.
Cleave will be missed. RIP
My thoughts go out to his family

Very sad time for all, including those of us who never personally met him, but still felt like he was part of the family. I'm glad he is released from his physical worries, and wish his family strength.

I never got to meet Cleve and I am very disappointed I will not get the chance. I guess it will have to wait until it’s my time.
Not very often do you never hear a negative word spoken of a man, but in my few years in the sport, I have not heard one single negative word about Cleve.
Cleve if you get a chance pull the big man upstairs and give him all you got.
