Yes his hand is thick as I recall from gripping him a long time ago, (did not pull )it is just not long which is what really causes me problems.
I first pulled back in 1987, but I really did not start pulling seriously until 2000.

I remember at some tourney Rob Vigeant brought a tape and started measuring people's circumference (of their arms, fellas, of their arms ) and I was shocked when he told Brent Rakers had like 17"-17.5" arms. His arms looked HUGE on ArmTV. Rob himself with his crazy bicep peak I think "only" had about 18.5" when he weighed near 220# (Don't quote me on that one but must be close, maybe he said 19" I can't remember). P It was at ROTN 2009, I was there... IIRC Rakers arm was 18-18.5 and RVJ's was a bit over 19 but I am not 100% positive

I decided to pull in ARMWARS rather then Nationals this year. 176 is a stacked class. I am 0 and 2 against both Simon and Chad but it has been severial years sences I pulled them. And we all improve and get stronger. I hope to hook up with them soon. I would say Simon and Chad will be a strap match and then it will be anyones game.

Simon you literally started armwrestling the year I was born lol That is hilarious Johnny... I actually pulled my first organized event in 1986… I had just transferred to McQueen High for the last 30 days of my junior year, on one day rather than racing to Burger King for lunch my friends drug me to the gym where the athletic department was having an Armwrestling event. I heard “last call for entries” apparently people had been singing up for months, so I went to go sign up. The coach told me he had two open slots in the bracket, one near the top and one near the bottom against Sean Shea, the guy that won this event as a Sophomore, missed it as Junior as was now back as a Senior and the favorite to win. The coach laughed as I picked the open spot at the top away from Sean. At that time I did not know any better so I armwrestled like I did every other sport, fast and aggressive, (yes believe it or not I used to be fast on the table), match after match I was just going right through everyone, by now I had developed a bit of a fan following in the crowd full of students…. girls were asking people who I was, things were going great…. Next I get called to the table and then they called my opponent, I don’t recall his first name but his last name was Kennedy I remember because the crowd started chanting Kennedy, Kennedy, up walks this guy that has a bicep the size of a full pronounced softball on top of an already large arm. Intimidating to say the least but hell I did not know any better so I hit him as hard as I could and plowed him straight to the pad, it was so fast and so shocking that the ref just stood there dumbfounded and did not call a winner, the coach had to come to the table to find out who won and the crowd stopped cold, mid-chant. To this day, every time I get too much in my own head at the table, worrying about the size or prowess of my opponent, trying and trying to figure out what to do, I think back to that match in particular and I remember to stop thinking and just pull. PS I went on to crush Sean Shea and win the event. PSS My first event as we know them was a WPAA event in July of 1987 I won the open 143 class, I think it was... that is where I met Chuck Kendricks, Dale Hawkins, and eventually Bob Howell

Thanks Simon. It would of been nice to lock horns with you when we are both stronger then we have ever been. Good luck at Nationals. I think you have the experiance to handle anyone there. Chad will be your biggest challenge. I don't think he will try and hook you but hit hard out and sideways. And it will end up in a strap. It will be a great match to see. PS my right bicep is 18"

Chads on another level at 176 I dont even think roman would stand a chance if Chad went power for power with him in a hook of the start instead of messin around trying to top pull and getting trapped out of position if Chad commited with a hard inside hit gained position he would have alot more options to play with and beat roman easy!

You coming to Nationals Jake? We were both 154's the last time we pulled.
I am in complete agreement I think Chad is one of the best pullers in the history of the sport, I think he is underrated because he is understated, he is quiet and he goes about competing like a professional workman of an armwrestler.
He is extremely skilled, diverse and experienced, watching him pulling has shown me so many sides of what he can do. He is truly amazing, no question. All the more reason I want him on the table.
To be candid and with a monsoon of respect, the more I watch him the less I can believe that he was 179 in that video, I am sure he can make 176, I just cannot believe he is already three pounds away from weight.
