Probably a horrible thread. I predict the first person to put their best will quickly be dwarfed by the next post I hear rumors of several armwrestlers with a near 600 lb. bench. your best? standard/close grip bench. stiff legged/standard dead.

Who? Until you see it in PERSON, don't believe it.
You're right about the dwarfing. Let it begin..... ;D

Before I armwrestled, while I was wee bit fatter in college, I benched 360 once. But my best bench was 317.5 pounds after weighing in at 157 when I took a physical test for one of our governmental agencies.

Here I'll start, no one can dwarf this: I bench 1,000 lbs, Close grip, 700 lbs for reps...Deadlift 900lbs, and stiff leg 700lbs for sets of 20 reps.......LMAO!!!!.

We have a guy on our armwrestling team ( Andy Medak ) who is also a powerlifter, strongman and does the highland games events.
He has been ranked nationally for his dead lift and does around 750lbs on a regular basis. His bench is not as good, but is around 550 lbs.
Have you seen the new bench press recorded with powerlifting shirt and needle marks on butt? 1000+ pounds!

Interesting story about bench press. While in Russia for an armwrestling tournament a few of us were making small talk over dinner. Of course no one really cares how much you bench in armwrestling because it doesn't matter, but we started talking out benching. We asked who has the best bench press, the Finish guys eyes lit up and they said our heavyweight who is a powerlifter. We said OK how much? He says, oh about 350 a little more at times. We thought he was joking until we found out he was talking kilos not lbs. ;D Impressed me, even though bench doesn't matter in armwrestling.

I benched 350 2 years ago, now I bench 330. I dead lift 500 pounds, on a 2 1/2 bar and on a Olympic bar. I squat 400-440 pounds depending on body weight.
My goal is to get my curl higher than my bench.....

At 132 in high school I benched 320 in competition, as a matter of fact I got into armwrestling when an armwrestling promoter asked me if I wanted to compete in an event after watching me win a small bench press contest, I have moved more out of competition, but I have not seriously bench pressed since college as I have bad shoulders, and since my injury to my left in 2000 I have not really tried to bench at all.
I was around some real animals in the bench press circuit but this 1000 lb stuff is insane.

in high school i played ball and lifted alot and i benched 345lbs but like simon i too have a bad shoulder and it is hard to bench now the last time i tried was about 5 yrs ago and i benched 225.... and it hurt.... deadlift was about 500 or so but we didn't care about that as much as BP and SQUAT being on the O-LINE. SQUAT WAS ABOUT.....575 but i hurt my knees playin ball and couldn't squat 75lbs now.....

I had open chest surgery last May to remove a cancerous tumor the size of a tennis ball , so I really went to nationals in completely WEAK condition, but to get expirience none the less. As of now, I am deadlifting 400 lb. at 159. 275 for reps stiff legged. Bench is slowly going up again. Hope to have it above 300 in 3-4 months. I have a small squeeze ball for the hand...yeah, still the weak point. Im developing new technique for winning that does not require a hand at all, such as jason vales up and over.

When I was competing in powerlifting (in my 20's) in the IPF, my best lifts in competition were Bench 408, Squat, 585 and Deadlift 610. I did all of this natural and at the 198lb class. I only placed 4th in this tournament and stopped competing shortly after this because I just couldn't see tearing up my body like that and compete against the in-breds who were juicing. I now have major bone spurs and a ruptured disc in my back and damaged rotator cuff in my left shoulder, so I don't know what my lifts really are. I still do benching, but never go over 225 for reps, because my shoulder screams at me. Now I am just trying to learn the great sport of armwrestling.

I had thought for a long time if the actual bench was a bit wider and I could get more support behind my shoulders that I may have been able to continue benching, I know this may be considered some unfair assistance but I am not trying to compete at it any longer I just would not mind getting the benefits of this exercise.
