but i must add something about steroid thing.that tendon destruction doesnt happen in a few years, and most of the russians dont stay alive in the sport for so many years.but i see that the best in the world is at his 40s.

The thing that this discussion is missing is Russian insight. Someone needs to talk to ANYONE from russia into joining this board. Who here has close ties to pullers from Russia?

Engin, I don't understand your analogy. The tendon I beleive was tore pryor to the tournament. A couple of months earlier. I was pulling with Dave Randell. When we had finished I noticed a pin poking pain on the interior of my elbow. I made nothing of it. I continuied feeling this even up til my warming up at that world tournament. After discussing it with my doctors they beleive it was partially tore earlier. So with that there were a lot of others finishing ahead of me that day. My opinion of the Russians is this. They have some great armwrestlers as do the U.S.. I beleive they have as you said good genetics, work ethic and discipline. I beleive we have alot of those same atributes. I know I have the gift of genetics and a very physical young life. Witch started with farming and construction. Those are probably the primary reasons I excelled in this sport. I have a very poor work ethic when it comes to armwrestling. I feel if there was more motivation I would even be better. As in bonuses or perks from my country to win. There isn't and I also don't want them either. I greatly appreciate the life I lead. We in the states might actually have a little less motivation or a differant type of motivation. I don't use any of this as any kind of excuse for anything either. You can state all the championships and all the titles. It might make a statment, though it still comes to two countries with some great armwrestlers. Just one countries greats pull 15 to 25 or more years while another has a hard time reaching 5 to 10.

The way you feel about your GOLD MEDALS is great, However, not all share your excitement...... I could care less about MINE.... To tell you the truth I'll sale it to you for $20.00...... The Legends you mentioned seem to only include one RUSSIAN...... The very best in each class has a low percentage of russians.... 132 - Spain 143 - Russian 154 - Turkey 165 - Bulgarian 176 - Ukrain 187 - Not sure!!!!!!! 198 - USA 220 - USA 242 - Brazil Over - Russian
They are very beatable, as the rest of us are
Your perception of the WAF titles is very differant from others in the sport, and everyone has the right to there opinion!!!!!!!!!!
P.S. Ali is not my name, IT'S TRAVIS BAGENT

Engin, Joe Louis was better...Rocky Marciano was better....Larry Holmes had a better Jab and was better...George Foreman would not have lost a rematch...He was better just not smarter...Mike Tyson (Before Cus died and Kevin Rooney was fired would have killed Ali). (Sportsman of the century was Jackie Robinson in the Magazine I read.) I don't think any of those guys were racist if That's what you meant or at least I have no reason to accuse them of that.
Ryan, When the US team got back from the last worlds in Russia they already knew because it was announced there that the testing was being done in Brazil. Just a quick heads up that it wasn't sprung on them. Good luck in your match against Travis. I can't wait to see it on video.

I was unaware of that Chris... I heard rumblings right before the worlds in Brazil that there might be testing... then didn't hear anymore about it until the actual testing happened. Did anyone hear the results of those who were actually tested?

Ryan, I believe there were only 2 ( the 2 lightest classes ) that weren't won by russians, and I never heard any results from their testing. As Chris said, it was announced in Suzdal, that there would be testing, so it wasn't sprung on anyone, I think the biggest mistake with how it was done was waiting till after the awards ceremony to test, but it was a whole new process being done, had to start somehow, know better for next time

Thanks Engin the words mean alot coming from a true champion who values the titles he has won. Travis we have never met personally and has i respect your acheivments in armwrestling, you dont half talk some crap!!! So you dont care less about your gold medal?and you would sell it for 20 bucks?(bullcrap mr hand man you come right out of a comic book) you have been blessed with the abilty to be one of the very best yet you seem like you dont give a crap,if the WAF title doesnt mean anything then why you in the sport?it cant be the money iam sure, people strive everyday to become what you have tasted. you are the only champion of the world (former) who i have heard from that the title doesnt mean anything well my friend i think your in the wrong sport i think the WWE should suit you more. take care

132 spain???not true.gocha from russia kills portela and lorenzo from spain everytime they pull.187 is maximov, tschakilov, aslanbek you just name any of these russians for the number one.its very normal that you dont know a lot about these things since you only care about the cash part of the sport.198??not sure after we all see klimenko!!!!i know your name is not Ali,this s why no body knows you.
Ron,i agree everything you wrote about this matter.i didnt know that you were injured before that match.Tony Picholi told me that he was there in your class and russian was better than you.

Plus, I don't have a tournament win on my record so it would be kind of hard to make claims on being good.

Engin, that was funny ( no your not Ali that's why no one knows you :-))
Chris my picture now shows me with a forearm shot, Is there something wrong with that?
How can you say Tyson would beat Ali. Tysons a bum as soon as he faced someone who could box and didnt fear him, he was exposed and never could fight again. As soon as you stretched this guy past 3 rounds he was an average fighter. Joe Louis was great, but Ali was voted the best and I agree. Rocky Marciano today would be a cruiser weight 185 pounds. he couldnt beat Ali or many fighters. He fought Joe Louis when Louis was old he fought Ezzard Charles and Walcott when they were 38 years old. Not his fault but he came up at an odd time for fighters.
Foremans brain and patience of 1995 who knows, but in the 70's this guy was too wound tight. Once again after Ali paved the way Jimmy Young took foreman to school the same way
