I am choosing to make rankings for the midwest. Starting with the lightest class I am choosing to rank (154) and moving up, I hope to have decent lists up by the end of the month. I don't want to seem like a know-it-all and if you have disagreements or suggestions with my lists please let me know in here or send me a pm. I don't play favorites at all. Please let me know how this first list looks, for the 0-154 lbs. right hand class. Hopefully it isn't too horrible. Please remember these are the rankings for the following states: Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Ohio. I don't feel I know the Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana pullers as well as the other states. So here it is (0-154 lbs. right hand - active pullers only!): 1. Roger Nowatske - Last pulled at the Arnold (that I am aware of) so he's on here for but needs to be more active to stay on 2. Ethan Fritsche - Won unified nationals - featherweight toproll champion 3. Brad Spine - 2nd at the Harley Pull, strong puller 4. Heath McDonald - 3rd at unified nationals, flashes all 154's and possibly all the 176's in SD, MN, IA, and Nebraska 5. Brian Robling - Pulls at some of Mary M.'s tournaments at 154, beat Jim Larson in the next class up 6. Totraz Tomaev - 3rd at the Harley Pull - but need to verify which state he lives in to make sure he's midwest. 7. Marvin Berry - won nationals, 2nd at Michigan States behind Kyle Knapp 8. Alan Berget (has beaten James Runyon every time they've pulled and won the AAA Nationals at 143 lbs.) 9. James Runyon - performed well at the Harley Pull (beat Luke Stanley and some other pullers), 3rd at Michigan States. 10. Aaron Gutt (4th place at the Harley Pull, placed ahead of Luke Stanley, Scott White, got a wins on Marvin Berry, Art Deporter, and some other guys) How does it look? Suggestions? Does anybody know which state Totraz lives in? If the list looks bad... please don't be too harsh on me for trying. and I should have the left hand up by the end of the week and maybe 176's right.

Left Hand 0-154 lbs. tell me what you think:
1. James Runyon (2nd at the Harley Pull, got a win on Soliwoda, got a win on Kyle Knapp at MI States) 2. Jeremy Plaster (wins pretty much every tournament he goes to has winning record vs. Ethan) 3. Ethan Fritsche (won Unified Nationals and beats everybody else in the midwest) 4. Dan Blanchard (3rd place left handed at MI States, gave James Runyon all that he could handle). 5. Drew Dominique (has wins on Matt Bourdon, James Runyon, and Alan Berget, hear he's beaten Dan Blanchard before but I always see Dan above him in results online) 6. Totraz Tomaev (3rd at Harley Pull over Luke Stanley, Marvin Berry, Aaron Gutt, Matt Bourdon...) 7. Gene Dunn (2nd at Worlds in Masters, beat Marvin Berry at nationals, hard to rank b/c in the results I've seen he mostly pulls master now and not open) 8. Marvin Berry (4th place at Harley Pull, beat Luke Stanley, overall strong puller) 9. Luke Stanley (easily wins all toproll tournaments at 154 (so far), 1st at Pull for the Hungry, Illinois States, beat Matt Bourdon at the Harley Pull) 10. Matt Bourdon (has wins on Dan Blanchard (Dan pulled 2 classes), Brad Spine, Alan Berget, and Andrew Schang)

This one was very hard to do, I think I got the top guys down but wasn't sure on the order, holler if you have any disagreements. This is 155-176 right hand:
1. Cobra Rhodes (legend, 2nd at ROTN, 2nd at Harley Pull, 1st at 2009 MI and OH States...) 2. Robertas Prozivalskis (1st at IL States at 187, took several hits for Cobra to beat him at Harley Pull, beat Paul Vertalka) 3. Garrett Richardson (easily wins 176 class at IL States easily beating Ethan Fritsche, but loses to Robertas in the 187's) 4. Greg Thompson (beats Aaron Blevins at Harley Pull, holds Brandon Dye for a while) 5. Paul Vertalka (beat some guys at the Harley Pull and places 2nd at MI States, he and Cobra had a long match, I don't know how much Cobra was playing with him but it looked like Paul nearly got Cobra off the go) 6. Shane McLaughlin (beat Jim Coyle, Jess Simpson, and some other strong pullers this year, won Pull for the Hungry easily, had wars with Ethan and Corey Miller) 7. Mike Dawson (very fast had a long match with Steve Shoemaker at the Harley Pull) 8. Shawn Dempsey (won Unified nationals at 165's, gave Ethan a war at IL States) 9. Kyle Kastanas (beat a worn down Ethan Fritsche at the Hooters Toproll Championships) 10. Brandon Redmond (won the 198 medal class at ROTN, beating John Grant convincingly, who has beaten Jim Larson right handed every time they've pulled)

I sure hope so, because I've already registered ;D
I'm pretty sure I'll make it to 198 though. I was about 215 a few weeks ago, when I started my diet and drastically changed my workouts. I'm down to about 205 now, but I'm REALLY lean. I'm not sure where I'm hiding those extra 7 pounds. I may have to lose a little muscle to make 198, but I guess that's okay. I'd rather lose some strength and pull 198 than be the smallest guy in the 199+ class. We'll see how it goes...
ROTN 165's for you???

Yup. I'm 165 right now and not cutting or dieting (I don't drink pop or eat sweets anyways). I'll probably pull the medal class but I might pull pro left handed, still thinking about it.

I am not better than Marvin left handed. He did not pull left at MI state due to an injury. But I will say that right handed, I have never lost to James Runyon and am about .500 with Marvin. I have 4 wins on him and he has 6 wins on me.

Must be nice to not have to worry about dieting and dropping weight! I hate it Even if you don't enter the pro class, you can still pull with them after the tourney. I don't know if I'm good enough to hang with with the pros yet, but I can see where I'm at...and get some awesome table time too. Should be a blast...see you there

Well I have to worry about cutting weight when I make 154's. See ya there I think you can hang with some of the pro's in the 198's. I am not better than Marvin left handed. He did not pull left at MI state due to an injury. But I will say that right handed, I have never lost to James Runyon and am about .500 with Marvin. I have 4 wins on him and he has 6 wins on me. Thanks for the info Alan, I just assumed he pulled lefty, but I will change the rankings later today. Did you pull righty at MI States and if so who knocked you out of the class? When is the last time you pulled James? Thanks, I wish there was video of the prelims at MI States and not just the finals but oh well, it's better than nothing.

Ihad pulled him just after the harley pull. I beat him then also. I am definitely not saying that he can't or won't beat me because James is a very strong dude and I never take him lightly. I think that me speed is what gives him problems and he has not figured out yet how to contain it like others out there. And yes I pulled right, not a good day for me at all. First match was a long hook match and I think that is what did me in. Along with the cold weather and reffing my hand just never recuperated. I lost my next 2 to Brad Paddock, a very good up and comer. It was the first time he has beaten me, so good for him. The other was Lee Selzner from Ohio and it was the first time for him to ever beat me also. They were pumped that they beat me, so if that helps them in confidence then great. I have no excuses, I just did not prepare myself properly for the cold and the long pulls and most others did.

Alan how does this list look now? I'll have 176 left hand up within the next 2 days and probably 198 right and left by the end of the week.

That looks pretty good. Also for left handed you could add in there Drew Dominique from Fort Wayne, IN. He is really good, he beat me pretty decisively a couple of weeks ago left-handed.
