After reading all these comments I think if you had been in this sport for any amount of time it is all of us that keep this sport going. The one's that never give up whether they are winning or not. There the one's that keep this sport going. Anyone that has had the chance to pull against John brzenk should thank Him for staying in the sport for as long as he has. Anyone that has beaten John at his best should be on that list. I can tell John your not at your best yet. I'll be 60 next year and I think I'm getting stronger. So anyone that is not winning at the time keep pulling and you'll only get better on a practice table and the gym. P.S. I think that John Woolsey should be on this list. He has nothing but inspire me to get better and has been great at giving his time to up and coming armwrestlers.

By no means a complete list, just a few names that come to mind:
John Brzenk Ron Bath Engin Terzi Cobra Rhodes Allen Fisher Cleve Dean Richard Lupkes Dave Patton John Woolsey Earl Wilson Dave Randal
And I would like to suggest Moe Baker, who came out of the woods and won 6 world titles like it was nothing. He is a legend around here (Bristol, CT) because everyone knows what a strength freak he was. Maybe he doesn't have the years in the sport to be considered a legend, but the unusual path to greatness: no table time and no gym time, just cutting wood time, makes him legendary to a few of us.

THere should be astericks next to some names due to when the competed.
Names that competed when armwrestling was "MAINLY" a USA/ Canadian "sport". Were there some competitors from other countries competing then?, YES...But still mainly from NORTH AMERICA....
LIKE: Some names mentioned, such as Moe, Max, Clay, John Woolsey, Joe Carabetta, Tiny, etc....You get the point.....Unfortunatley its not their fault that they didn't competing in an era where the WAFS was around.....
How about Buonanto, competing at 185 lbs and beating some of the great Superheavy weights, at his time!
Also, what about George Givens?

George Givens was awesome in the '80s, winning 8 AAA Seated Nationals titles in the row in the 185 pound class between 1983 and 1990, while also winning the AAA Stand-Up Nationals in many of those years. Few people have had such an impressive winning streak.

I guess If your talking the best for any period of time , though short period you would include Scott Norton, who didnt seem armwrstle more than a few years.
John Buonoto when i traveled to CA 79-81 about 5 times , I didnt see him . Not sure how long he pulled . I know He stopped in 86 , I believe finished 8th at over the top
Someone that belongs on the list is Dan Mason . He has as many titles as Al Turner, beat Al head to head maybe 10 out of 12 times. Beat MO baker twice and never lost too him. Mo was maybe 30 -34 age at the time. Dan Never beat Cleve Dean , but Dean was very dominate at the time . Dan pretty much stopped pulling in 83 , like Turner but dominated for a decade.
I also think Virgil should be on the list , He was amazing and the best in CA and USA for a while

Christian
Everyone has the right to express his opinions.
Even if we do not agree with him, we should respect his opinon.
Guys better You do if You tell us more about The Greats like Guy Lasorsa did (about Dan Mason) - Thanks
This will be brilliant knowledge for young people, or people like me from Europe. And the same Europeans can do.
If someone thinks that I want to be a judge - He is very wrong
People's opinions will give us the answer who is a Legend and who "only" among the greatest armwrestlers in history.
I collecting opinion of people who are in the sport for years. I want to ask many people (of course in consultation with people who are authority figures to me, who else should be asked).
I already have OPINION of:
- John Brzenk, - Travis Bagent, - Engin Terzi, - Arsen Liliev, - Ron & Cindy Bath, - Cleve Dean, - Ferit Osmanlı (Usmanov) - Bill Collins - Bob Paradis

I can not believe that when I ask Who in your opinion is a legend in armwrestling?
People suddenly asking what I mean: Who in your opinion is a legend in armwrestling?
GUYS, if you suddenly are not sure what a LEGEND means in your opnion.
So tell me, please YOU ARE OVER 30, 40, 50 or Older, and all your life you were talking about someone that is a Legend, but not being sure what that word means?
If someone asks me who is a legend in the sport Im intrested for years, I say without thinking the name or names of people who in MY OPINION are a Legends I do not need any tips and criterias to know this
I do not know how long I be collecting answers of people whose opinions I want to know. I asked meny and still wait, but to contact with some of the names I need your help
I will soon give you the names of the people with whom I am unable to contact
Thank You

Vern Martel deserves to be listed in a hall of Fame. The one armed bandit in his era was in the top 154's in North America argueably the world. He was a top caliber arm wrestler and considered amongst Canada's best.
