Well no wonder you can live off $20,000 a year. Try that with 3,4, or 5 kids and see how that works out for you. It might make you rethink what you need to make to survive and what you would could afford to pay in taxes. (I know you get tax credits for kids but trust me, there is not a tax credit in the world that is high enough to cover what you truly spend on kids in a liftime.)
$250,000 a year without kids and I'm sure you would feel "RICH". You should feel like Donald Trump. Go ahead and tell me how I should have thought about that before I had kids. Lets see. I think I need to be frugal. I dont' think I'll have kids. Excuse me for wanting to help my kid get a car that will crank everytime I get in it and not leave them stranded once a week. Excuse me for wanting my kid to do better than I have. Don't penalize me for having ambition and getting out and working my tail off to have something.

Is it mandatory to have too many kids?
Anyone who has kids and can't afford them is an idiot.

Agreed.
Anyone who doesn't have kids because they want to have more money is an idiot. I would rather have my children than all the money in the world.

What are your thoughts on the flat tax? Can you get more fair than that. The same for everyone across the board. Amen on the flat tax. No "magical slide-ruler" and NO loop-holes.

I'll take money over kids.
If I have kids and I can sell them....well...start the bidding at 10k

Raising money for a high paying tournament. I'm even thinking about a League of pullers that have no weight classes. Too many excuses when their is weight classes. Of course this league would be right hand only.
Phil, I just saw your thing at the bottom of your posts. With that $60,000 you have left over, seems like you wouldn't have any problem putting on a big money tournament. Let me know when it is, I'll try to be there. No kids classes I'm sure.

Or did you think those 18 year olds had thousands of dollars to pay there own way? (Columbia unniversity 40k a year!) (Harvard is about 35k a year) (even community college is too much very an 18 year old) But i'm sure you think everyone got loans? Well who co-signs those loans? Rich parents do. And if they can't...you don't get in. My parents are NOT rich, they are lower middle class, but yes they did co-sign my loans. They did not however help me AT ALL during school. I had a full time job at a chemical lime plant to pay for rent, books, and all other bills. Now I have over 20K in student loans to pay off. Believe it or not there are a lot of people just like me out there, all my friends were. Maybe it's a mid-west thing?

Chris, my situation sounds exactly like yours. $20K left on the loans and work through college. Sure I have a little debt. Sure I have some toys. But I also know my limits, and I learned them by how I was brought up.

I think we're about the same weight now. ;D

Haha...I'm floating around 220 if you're in that neighborhood. I'd like to get down that way for a tournament for sure. No immediate plans, but all it takes is a vehicle sale & delivery or an open weekend

to much info not enough time. Hopefully I will have time later to comment on all this.
The one thing I will agree with is the 250K limit is too low for the additional tax. However with the current tax collection rate a flat tax would have to be about 35-40% to start getting things back on track. I will discuss later
