I can look directly at a team mate(s). Same environment, roughly same training/coaching. This is quite a controlled experiment actually. There is one in particular who I'd never really been close to but have beaten him since I've been heavier. He's very accomplished as well, not just someone random.
With weight came more strength. I know that to be true, guys on the team had felt it. I feel it also in other guys who've made the same decision.
I can name several guys who I can beat or be competitive with that I could not before.
There is no way in hell I would have hung in there with Mike Gould when I was 198 but I gave him hell when heavier. I lost 3-0 but it wasn't easy for him (where it would have been very easy if I was 198)

John, not being sarcastic, but I'm reasonably sure Travis was 220/242 in Bakerfield. I think he took a 1st and 2nd to Bucky Russell. Sorry to but in. Please continue everyone. You know what, you are right. Because Jacob Abbot won 198s, I think both hands, at 198. I can't remember if Robert Redden won one hand or took two seconds. I think Robert pulled 187s Right and 198s left. I'm getting old. Thanks for straightening me out!

But I'm not even part of this debate because I am certainly not the pound for pound anything. You and I are typical of getting stronger as we got bigger and heavier. That's how it usually works. It's also why the best Lb-4-Lb guys are different. They dominate without getting old and fat.

I certainly don't consider myself a p4p anything either.
You're right John, generally the "typical" p4p guys are usually a leaner bunch.
However like I said, I'm better p4p as I got heavier. So many variables, so many examples in such a dynamic sport make this a wide open topic.

I'd have to say the best in USA is chad at 176... He destroys that class.. And 187... And 198 99% of the time at the highest level...
All the other guys do well, but aren't nearly as dominant in their own class Nevermind classes above.
In NA... Gotta say crazy George... Can't look past him

... In other words nobody handles their elite peers in their class the way chad does. He takes no.2 behind him and smokes him... And could probably go all the way down the line

Call me crazy but I would like to see Corey pull chad I would pay to see Corey and Chad pull. I do think that Chad would win but definitely a match I think a lot of people would like to see. As for lb4lb I haven’t seen Ethan Fritsche’s name mentioned. I watched him at the TopRoll event on May 18th smoke Josh Dale a National champ at 198 and Ethan weighed in for 54’s for his supermatch with Spine.

I voted for Chaffee because IMO he is number one in the world at his weight (besides Devon but right now Chaffee would beat him I assume anyways) and IMO none of those other guys are number 1 in the world at their weight.

In no particular order, Chad, TUllier, Corey, Vazgen (sp?)...
You can add JB to the list of guys that get heavier and get better, WELL in later yrs, where i also think the talent is better AND deeper..Also, Ron Bath, Marcio...And I am sure we can add more to this list

WAIT WAIT..p4p Isn't there a very TALL COWBOY, who practices or practiceD with John B out in Utah?
Or are we just counting active pullers, even though he pulled Neimroff a couple of yrs ago and who Unifieds at 176 in Utah too.

Corey has also beat top 98s. I also think Corey's style is tough for chad. But then again I wouldn't b supprised if chad beat Corey.
