And David you mentioned "Most Christians would say......"
If I have noticed anything - its that for some reason WAY TOO MANY Christians LOVE saying that BECAUSE YOU DO THIS or THEY DO THAT well THEN THEY GO TO HELL.
Maybe they think that scaring people into doing what they think God wants them to do is the way to go about it, in fact I know PLENTY of people who think exactly that.
I just choose to not belittle God down to that level - I don't know how many ways he has tried to HELP us with our walks through life throughout time. I also don't belittle Jesus to that level - he had an immense love for his fellow man, for his mission, his burden - he was well aware of existence, that life existed far beyond his reach. He was instilled with the wisdom of God - and I believe whatever he said was the truth - but what was actually said and what is in the KJV - is up for debate, and may always be.

John, you gotta be real here. Your saying someone cant post on a thread unless they know every aspect of the topic? Every aspect would be a person called perfect, as far as i can calculate. Nobody on this board is a perfect armwrestler should we erase the whole board? My point is I never take religion for face value. Its the way people act and present themselves, nothing to do with what they read or what their grandpa taught them. I dont chime in much but I dont like when people post small books about a topic trying to belittle people.

God is not that black and white - God does not fall under any COLOR choices actually - he exists under his own terms - and may act as He pleases. People all too often at times speak as though THEY are God themselves - and that hurts the Christian faith.

No Dan I didn't say nobody should post yada yada yada - I said I wouldn't - and I do believe that the LEVEL OF YOUR INPUT should compliment the LEVEL OF YOUR LEARNED KNOWLEDGE on the subject.
For that reason, as an amateur arm wrestler I post very little - and only on things I think are or could possibly be of use. I am not John Brzenk, but wanted to give back to the sport, that was what started Arm Wrestlers Near You - I didn;t want to contribute by running my mouth - I wanted to help however I could in a positive way.
I compared not speaking on Astro physics to Religion because of how complex the whole idea of it is, and HOW INTENSELY PERSONAL the discussion can get and should get.
I think a certain amount of intellectual respect should be given - with some considerations. But I HONESTLY KNOW thats not possibel. People are people and different people have different standards. I have mine. You have yours.

Intellectual respect??? You have another hypothesis that can never be proved. Since your using examples as complicated as astro-physics and armwrestling ill break it down. There is a way to prove armwrestling is real, and also thanks to math there is a way to figure out the perfect angle to pull your opponent. Same with astro physics, now religion...We can prove that people universally accept stealing and lying is wrong, however I cant really believe That jesus is sitting in the clouds. Just like someone else mentioned, the morals are great and everyone should follow their own life rules, because that is key. I know right from wrong and I know right is best. I have no problem being a good person, but I just dont wanna trick anyone. Sorry but your like you just said taking this personal. Boards are to have a conversation not a bunch of pros. Nothing is personal on the northeast board.

Dan thanks, but your post isn't really adding anything that I should reply to. If you think I'm wrong about what I said, then that's your opinion and you're more than welcome to it. I didn't take it personal - as I stated - I stick up for the people who would - and for the millions who have died in the name of Christianity who can't do so for themselves. I'm also entitled to do that as you are entitled to disagree with my doing so.
Take care.

I also am too easily affected ( TO BE HONEST ) by illogical thought - and feel the need to say something sometimes because my conscience tells me too - is what it is I guess, but I'm ok with that.

Your a strong man John, but there are better ways. I never have proven a point by telling someone else there thoughts were illogical. But your getting too defensive and should go back to what you believe and see if there isnt a chapter on that. I dont mean to be rude, but your preaching about the bible and I know it says, treat others how you want to be treated, at all costs. Would he want you putting others down for being strong and having their own beliefs???

Saying something is illogical I believe on all accounts was accurate. and I stand by that. Like I said, the standards for myself in terms of debate concerning such sensitive subjects is understandably different than others. Your opinion won't change that. Once again take care, I need to get some rest.

Also, I was not proving or trying to prove a point either - I was petitioning for and sometime demanding open-mindedness where it is due.
You may think you have a grasp on how I'm acting or how I'm responding - but everything isn't that simple bud - and I am most certainly not that naive. I was not preaching either - your perception of me and what I'm doing, while is your opinion, is false.
This is as you said an internet board - its hard to get all of what you want to say out at times - and things get lost in the text - thats just nature of the beast, buts its all ya got at times. I'm not perfect, I don't communicate with perfection, and I have alot to learn when it comes to doing so. But I'm doing so out of sincerity and an open-mind, not discounting ANYONE"S CONVICTIONS, and only asking the same in return.

I can relate to that John. Thanks for taking time to express your views. There are people who understand or want to understand you and people who don't or don't want to. As you said it's "the nature of the beast". Take care.

Well the question was of dislike for non religious? I think likes and dislikes are a thin line between frustration and lack there of brainwashing. I think they dislike that the non believer won't comply. But not dislike the actual person.

I can relate to that John. Thanks for taking time to express your views. There are people who understand or want to understand you and people who don't or don't want to. As you said it's "the nature of the beast". Take care. Its not that I/We don't want to understand, we have done a analysis of the situation also just came up with a different conclusion. If you need a religious "rock" to fall on when times are tuff, then by all means fall on it...I/We don't need that, Iam my own personal rock that hasn't let me down yet. When people fall on religion for everyting it makes me think you are weak and can't handle it on your own. When non religous people get jumped on for speaking their mind when we read or listen to your religious BS propaganda all the time it makes me think your close minded, weak and not sure what you really believe in. If y'all were so sure sure about your views you wouldn't be so quick to start jumping....jmho Definitely the dumbest and offensive post on this thread
