I would disagree with this, but I believe in leading by example. Of course I don't have kids, but when I do, I want them to respect me not because of my back hand. Holy crap, this thread could go on about a million tangents. ;D Lol your right about that!! I don't believe in any sort of religion but I belive in good morals that my mom whooped into me and they are very similar to ones I have read in the bible

Most religious people dont like ATEIST people (Non religious). Ateist does not mean a disbelief in God- it just refuses the religions are god made.
the standard is simple actually - Humanist approach. you do not need religion to guide your life. 2000 yrs ago that was the case as social structure was not as established as today. They needed a fear factor to keep people in line and put things in order. We are way more advanced than our ancestors in every way.
Fairy tales dont make sense to rational people anymore. you gotta come up with facts, evidence not just an emotional manipulation of your brain crying god wants me to do this not that, or your hallucination of a so-called "relationship" with him.
I am trying really hard not to hurt anyone on this matter but it is really aggrevating when someone is trying to talk like Bible or any other book is the only way to obey and live your life to be a good person....
It is this simple: there is good people and there is bad people. why is it too hard to understand?

I dont like the ones going door to door trying to change my thoughts thats for sure. Mike, The ones I can't stand are the ones who use the bible and their religion as a tool to battle their TRUE feelings. The ones that say GOD don't like it, so I must make it my issue... LoL ... It's hilarious! You can read the bible 1000 times and you could find 1000 different ways to interpit it. Jmo TK |

I stated a opinion on something, SO what... you personally attacked my character, i promise you that you wouldnt sing that tune if we were face to face. What the heck are you talking about? Obviously you haven't been on the board long but if you know me at all I don't mean to offend people. But often do. And that's the tune I will sing till I die.
If you choose to have religious discussion on this board you will likely be offended. And very possibly by me.
As I said strictly unintentional but I like to be blunt in my "debates". I feel it gets the point across better than beating around the bush. And I guess that comes with a price. So be it.
But I honestly do not see anything where I was disrespectful to you.

from a believer's side i do not have a problem with anyone who disbelieve as long as he does not have a problem with my belief.according to my belief GOD could have made everyone believers if HE wanted,so if HE gave everyone a free will & choice then who am i to have a problem with this? also again according to my belief every believer can become a none believer and every none believer can become a believer.so as a believer my duty to hope everyone to believe instead of hating anyone.again according to my belief anyoe who hates the creature also hates the CREATOR.we should not hate anything except sin,Just My Belief.

There are only 3 monotheistic religions in the world.
Judaism
Christianity
Islam
Most other religions we can automatically dismiss as a nut job cult.
Christianity stems from Judaism.
Jewish and Muslim scholars both claim one comes from the other.

here goes  I was raised Christian and had the "word" brainwashed into my head and givin to me as fact. I was away from the church for about 5 years and then as an adult went back to the church of christ and read and learned more than I ever had before, so much that it actually pushed me further from god or religion. Some of the things I found were so un christ like yet are being taught as truth. Now nobody spear me but......I think the bible is a great shot at trying to keep people in check and give them something to fear so they dont go crazy raping and killing each other, and IMHO nothing more Don't get me wrong I believe there is something bigger than us out there, perhaps GOD but I dont believe if he wanted to save us from our sins he would have to create a "son" and then give him up as a sacrifiec for our sins, ....I mean hes god right so he can snap his fingers and presto no more sin I also wanna ask this question, is our world better or worse for religion, I mean the majority of wars that have happened in our world were started because of religion right? religion does keep people in check to a certain extent but it also seems to breed alot of hate I respect anyones beliefs whatever they are and could care less if you pray to the moon that is your right and no one should be able to stop you from believing in whatever it is you believe, we are all on this planet togather and I think the sooner we all start excepting that we are more the same than we are different the better off we will be |

Although iam spirtial and do believe my loved ones that have past watch out for me daily. I just dont believe in religion of any kind. The dispute we were having earlier is can you be a good person without faith? I say yes because i know iam a decent human with or without religion. Agreed, although I am not sure without some of the basic principles of the bible like the 10 commandments that our society would be of a nature where you could simply be a good person without being religious We get our basic difference between right and wrong from religion, if we had never been taught that it was wrong to steal would some of us not do it? like I said I think the intent of the bible was good but mens hands are deeply inbedded in it, look at the creation of the bible and how it was brought togather as one book and this can easily be seen |
