Can you imagine being told that two planes flew into the trade towers, possibly killing everyone in them, along with the passengers of the planes and people in the streets? Can you, with an honest answer, tell me what you would have done in his immediate position? Man, what a load he must have felt coming down on his shoulders! Can you imagine the rush of, "what ifs", "who dids", "Whys" that went through his mind? Cut the man a break. True, he may have been wondering what his father would do, but I can only speculate that he felt to be the loneliest man on the face of the Earth at that particular moment. Heck, Clinton would have hunted for Hilary for answers of what needed to be done Allen, I want to be clear.... Presidents are human and they are not infalable.. I am not going to suppose what I would have done but then again I did not run for president .... but as the President of the most powerful country in the free world .... you are supposed to be a cut above the rest....Faster ,Smarter , Braver, Informed ... I did not like clinton either but Clinton was a rhodes scholar a very prestigious thing and was very aware. Bush is just a JR to a SR that is it.... no great accomplishments. What I think he should have done is 1. leave the photo oppurtunity 2. get on Air force one where he would be safe..... 3. get intel from the pentagon and the C.I.A. and 4. make sure our country is safe or defer behind the scenes power to people who can react under pressure I respect your opinion but that is mine P.S. Simon you never caese to shock me with your well spoken and well informed comments Christopher Myers

I was valeting at the time at Four Season and it didn't take thirty seconds from the time I found out about the two towers to clock off and tell my manager I am "out a here". I thought their was a definite possibility that we were being attacked and I was outa there. I would hope that the President would act as fast.
Simon...I am not that political as a person. I try and pay attention but it just seems that I get BS'd from all angles from both sides and it is impossible to know who to trust so mostly I don't believe any of them BUT WHAT GOT ME MOSTLY ABOUT 9/11 WAS the recordings of Bush himself. when he was asked about "shouldn't he be in Washington instead of Texas"...his response was mind blowing..
It brings to mind the scene of another movie..."School of Rock"
When Jack Black's character Dewey Finn was trying to explain teachers night to the parents it was painfully obvious that he wasn't a teacher..BUSTED!!!
Now this is not real but Bush IS and I don't care how much Micheal Moore slants his side of the story.
Bush is Dewey Finn...BUSTED!!!

You mean you expected Bush to run for cover, or say,"I'm outta here!" faster than you? lol What was Bush's response when asked if he should be in Washington, instead of Texas? (I really do not know.) I am truly befuddled here. What would you had him do or say? Chris M., you made yourself clear. I respect your opinion. - All in good debate

Thank you Mr. Meyers, I too am very impressed with your comments and depth of knowledge , frankly between this conversation, the JV string and the DMSO conversation I am very proud to be a “stupid armwrestler” and I would put a team of armwrestlers up against any group in any competition either physical or intellectual.
I am not overwhelmingly political I am just practical with a low BS meter. My job is to run a cost effective, efficient, high quality operation, this country should not be run much differently, it is a very large business with a lot of shareholders and it should be run accordingly. Certainly you cannot please everyone, but you should be doing what is in the best interest of the future success of the company and not be afraid to make that clear. The death of any business is the lack of transparency and simplicity, you can only keep up the appearance only of a quality operation for so long before it will eventually be your undoing.
Gary I certainly can see your concern, just look at the campaigning ads, why would we expect people that act in this manner while trying to win the job to suddenly become forthright, honest, pillars of integrity, considering deception, mudslinging and manipulation got them into the seat in the first place? I guess it is easy to take my position because I don’t have to defend either side, I think the entire system is horribly unstable and no one man is going to be able to manage that many holes in the d**e effectively, particularly when every person with a camera or a staff of writers is making money from tearing at their every move. I am not sure there is a person that could run this country well as it is now.
James, well that makes two Michael Moore's that are too light for me to pull this year, the older one looks a lot bigger on TV.

Allen...my take was this...
for me "out a here" meant...if the fit was hittin the crap right then, the only place I could see myself at that moment was with my family..not opening doors to shuttle vans for old golfers who had no idea what just happened.
for Bush.."out a here" should have meant..."I have a country to protect and defend" and every second counted at that moment.
he sat for seven minutes or so by himself...he should have atleast contacted his military advisors instantly...
no hesitation...
AS FOR the comment..."shouldn't you be in Washington doing some work"
I can't remember word for word but his remarks were really sad....something like
well, we here in Texas use stuff like phones and fax machines and I have some really smart government people coming over later and we are going to do some really important government stuff. They got big files we are going to look over. really important stuff...yeah...thats it...
something like that..atleast that is how I remember it.
What if you called me up and asked me how I ran my business. Hey Gary, "How do you stream video?" As the President of my company wouldn't you hope I could give you atleast a partial intelligent response. I just find it sad that OUR own president can't speak about his job unless somewhat scripts it for him.
BUT then these are only my stupid rants and I AM DEFINITELY NOT EDUCATED enough in politics to KNOW FOR CERTAIN that BUSH is an IDIOT.
Somebody somewhere thinks you need a degree to make a decision like that.
Controvery at the very least helps people think and start a debate which in the end can hopefully do SOMEone SOMEgood SOMEwhere out there.

Certainly I would have liked to have seen a more re-assuring response from my Commander in Chief, but all things considered I would expect him to have a tough time making a statement at that moment, but that was quite a bit less than should be expected from the President.
You would have gotten a better statement out of Clinton or Gore but absolutely no action from either of them.

REMEMBER gentleman, we don't know what was whispered to him while he was in that classroom. One thing, why didn't Micheal Moore show the whole 7minutes in his " documentary "? When asked in an interview, why if the 7 minutes were so important why weren't the whole 7 minutes in the " documentary "? Moore said it was to painful to put in. Wasn't this the point of the " documentary "? To make it VERY painful on Bush. What cramp! I wold love to see what was going on in those 7 minutes, NOT shown in this " documentary ". REMEMBER 1,000's of hours of film EDITED down. BOY Gary can't that be twisted to make Bush look bad? Also his " documentary " is based, according to him, on the Bushs relation to the Saudis and Bush helping the Saudis get OBL's relatives ( i believe there were only a few of them. One was a niece who was attending collage in Boston. A NIECE!!! ) out of the U.S. right after the attack. Now if you go back to Mr. Richard Clark (who always voted Republican. Just like that other Clark, Wesley ), the National Security Advisor who ,when didn't get the job as head of the Homeland Security position, All of a sudden after praising and sticking up for Bush, and bashed Clinton he did a 180 degree turn.We won't mention the million dollar book deal. Listen to his own words on t.v. AND in front of the 911 Commission. He and he alone advised the Saudis to get OBL's family out of the Country. He never consulted Bush or anybody from his cabinet. SO the Saudis DIDN"T call Bush up and asked him for help!!! Clark did it all by himself!!!! SO just on that point, which is the basis of Moore's propagandist " documentary ", Moore is wrong. WOW what a shock!!! Isn't it the same Moore who calls himself a " poor filmmaker ", the one who lives in a $3 million home in Manhattan, and has a multimillion dollar lakefront home in Michigan? Isn't it the same Moore who says he is not a Democrat but an Independent, YET is registered in N.Y. AND Michigan as a DEMOCRAT? Just fuel for thought. There is so much to comment on in these posts, but I won't. BUT it is fun reading these posts. One more thing, I am NOT a REPUBLICAN!!! I am a REALIST a TRUIST. Like those terms? I do! I believe in reality not in the lala land that MOST people live in. Or think the world COULD live in

I was one of the lucky ones that got flown to Nebraska to hide in an underground bunker just in case on 9/11. I don't know what the rest of you guys were doing. BTW, just read Chris' post. Funny But I was referring to Jerome Moore's brother. I figured I would break up the serious nature of this conversation a little. Bush is like 99% of all politicians I have met. You disagree with a lot of their decisions, and then at some point you find out someone was making their decisions for them anyway.

I like this thread because we all express our opinions and they are somewhat diverse yet no one has disrespected the other mans right to see things diffrently this is the way politics is supposed to be but rarely is. I like what Christian said I would also call myself a realists .... just less politicaly informed than Christian. But I do love to hear all of the diffrent views Christopher Myers

It has been fun; my wife and I were discussing it last night as well after seeing additional interviews with Moore, mostly centered around the money he has made and how he marketed this movie to maximize the value, which to me is very telling. As long as we are almost on the subject of the election considering many perceive Moore's movie to be an attempt to help unseat Bush or believe that it will be a significant factor in the election, I have something to toss out. What is the deal with the rampant celebrity endorsements, it used to be that only the mature power players in Hollywood, the ones with possible political aspirations themselves ever got involved, now they are making special trips to the rehab center to ask the Olsen twin who she is going chose in her first chance to vote, (not really but you get the point). On one show my wife was watching we saw celeb after celeb give their predominantly uniformed endorsements, like rappers giving shout outs to their “peeps” finally Jason Biggs I believe his name is from the American Pie movies, summed it up, “I believe Hollywood has a lot of power to sway undecided voters”, try replacing “undecided” with “brain dead”, so the election is going to be decided by people that are going to vote as Jason does because they loved him in the movie “Loser”?
