My goodness chris you should stop busting your butt working so hard and become a writer....really. Your story about your son brought tears to my eyes. he's lucky to have you for a dad........ Karen , I love to write... poor spelling though ( Kant Spel ) HA HA I am lucky to have him as my son. I hope to be as good a father to him as he is a son to me. The wisdom and bueaty that can be found in the most obscure places !!! it is funny to see the world through the eyes of an autistic child. He sees things diffrently than most and when he share's it it is always bueatiful. I cant wait for you to meet him one day when you guys come to practice up here in NY Christopher Myers

I agree, Chris. The one about your son is awesome! Being a parent as well, I can see how the awareness, from the child himself, can really affect you.

SUBWAY EYES
It’s not their fault, it is hard to smile To greet in the age old way It is easier to turn, to not pay attention Then to help others out in some way
You are after something, I don’t trust anyone These things are thought day and night The ones who believe but never perceive Scream out for the black and the white
I have hardened with time and trust very little Now I don’t care to look in your eyes Sometimes I want to go back and trust everyone But it is still easier to pretend that I despise

I wrote that last one when I was 14 I was taking the subway to High School and the train was crowded at the other end of the car a little old lady got on . I was amazed but no one offered her their seat. NYC subways start and stop abruptly when the doors closed and the train started with a jerk she fell. No one moved to help her. I was shocked. For a split second I debated to pretend to not see it like everyone else. but I could not stand to be that cold even if I was from New York I helped her back to my chair went to school disgusted and wrote that poem Christopher Myers

Judgment
You think that you truly know me When in fact you really don’t You think you will understand what I go through When in fact you really won’t
I say to truly know a person You should walk a mile in their shoes I say to see the colors of one’s life You should not miss the subtle hues
With that in mind try to walk my mile You might not be able to even stand With all the weight you did not know I must carry You might forget judgment and instead offer a hand

Hey Chris, I can really relate to your subway poem. It is interesting how people turn a lot more icy when they're on the subway. I only lived in NY for a few years, but one of the reasons I left was because I like to engage in little chats with people (not strangers, I don't like that word) but just people on the street. I wouldn't even try it most places in New York, though I was lucky to live near Arthur Avenue in the Bronx, where a lot of the old timers would spark up a conversation with you. It might sound weird, but hey I think you can learn a lot from other people as long as you sit and listen.

Lonely You can stand in the crowds and feel terribly alone You can smile at the clouds and your heart be stone You can hold someone’s hand and think of another You can love someone dearly and never be with each other You can have much to say and never utter a word You can speak till you are tired and never be heard You can succeed to express and fail to convey You sometimes just leave even when you want to stay

YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE BRILLIANT TO OWN A BUSINESS THAT REQUIRES BRILLANCE
YOU NEED ONLY TO BE WILLING TO PAY WHAT IS NECESSARY TO GET BRILLIANT PEOPLE TO WORK FOR YOU

Chris, these quotes are very good. This is not an effort to blow smoke up your rear end. You should consider cowriting a quote book, perhaps with someone who has already been compiling some quotes of his own.
