Simon, I love your confidence. Chad Silvers is definitely one of, if not the most impressive looking armwrestler. I remember the first time I saw him, at the 2004 Unifieds. I had met Steve Rau at a previous Indiana tournament and thought he was just enormous. Then, I got to see Chad Silvers handle him on the table. Wow! Johnny, I appreciate you posting that video. I think we should do more promoting of potential matchups at the Unifieds. Wish I could make the trip!

Thanks Chris and John. Is it also true that Ronald Reagan rose the debt limit 17 times during his presidency? My sister told me that this is what Obama is claiming in his current speeches.

John, you can't be serious! It's over 90 degrees here! It seems hotter than it was this time last year!

Spending will never get under control without a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution. Even then, the amount of phoney accounting gimmicks used will make everyone want to vomit. But at least it won't be a credit card with no limit in the hands of 535 shysters and hustlers. True. Can someone explain to me in as neutral language as possible what exactly is going on right now between the President and Congress in regards to raising the debt limit? I really haven't been following it. Thanks.

Chris, after reading your post I now think that spending is actually a secondary problem, which would then make illegal immigration a tertiary problem. The primary problem is having career politicians/too many politicians, i.e. "bloated government". I can appreciate some benefits of having Progressive minded people in office, like nice libraries and parks. On the other hand there are plenty of examples I can give you of wasted money on bad ideas, just from my little town of Somerset. One example: Hal Rogers appropriated over $1Million to subsidize plane tickets from our local "airport" as part of a development plan. For a short period of time they offered flights to D.C., Cincinnati, and Nashville for under $100 one way. The government was paying the other $600 of the tab. We also have a program that subsidizes cell phone service. Why does all of this ridiculous spending continue to happen? The person approving the money (congressman) is hearing from one or two people (lobbyist) from a town far away. The congressman is then reelected because he most likely didn't spend his constituents' money, but was able to provide them with all kinds of goodies. Example: Kentucky Medicaid is 90% funded by the federal government. That means Kentuckians; although 1 in 4 are disabled, only have to pay for 10% of the bill.

So Neil, where would you put the 2004 Voevoda on Engin's list of the 10 best over the last decade? I'm very interested to know. Thanks.

Tim B again Not angery at all about with your opinion unimformed or not but when people run there mouths and get stupid with people they shouldnt it bothers me !!! we use to call it telephone tough guys !!!! maybe you should ask pete when you should just listen . Just like all te others that have spouted off to myself or christion when we see them in person its all smiles and respect! as the saying goes dont write checks you can t afford to cash I wasn't trying to say anything tough to Christian, I was merely contributing to the conversation. Maybe you're right, I should have just "listened". As to what I wrote to you, I was kind of jabbing at you "tongue-in-cheek" because your post had such bad spelling that I couldn't tell what you were really trying to say. I was a little irritated by your lack of respect for me. Of course it will be all smiles and respect when I see you in person. That is the way I treat everyone, the way I want to be treated. I apologize for responding like a smart alec, because you are right-I would never have done that in person. Even though you treated me in a condescending, disrespectful way for no reason, I should not have responded with what I did.

Illegal immigration is actually a secondary cause of the downfall of our system/country. Americans are simply entitled to too much. Do you know what public education costs? "Real spending per pupil ranges from a low of nearly $12,000 in the Phoenix area schools to a high of nearly $27,000 in the New York metro area" per year per child. That is just one service that we are entitled to as citizens. I can guarantee you that the average family with 2 children in public schools is not paying $24-$54,000 a year in taxes. We think it is everyone else's responsibility to take care of our elderly parents. The annual average cost of a nursing home has reached $57,000. My local school board now offers preschool for 3 year olds. Depending on where you live and the quality of the preschool, average costs range from $4,460 to $13,158 per year ($372 to $1,100 monthly), according to the National Association of Child Care Resource & Referral Agencies (NACCRRA). We all know that healthcare is out of control. With obesity numbers growing every year, it doesn't take a genius to figure out that this is not sustainable. SPENDING IS THE PROBLEM! www.cato.org/pub_display.php?pub_id=11432www.therubins.com/homes/longterm.htm

Very interesting, different takes by two of the most knowledgeable armwrestlers ever-Neil and Engin. I have always thought that the Brzenk/Voevoda Zloty match was a terrible gauge of how the two would fare against each other because of John's earlier match with Taras Ivakin. John was noticeably worn down by the final match. Engin makes a good point in that Ivakin couldn't even move Voevoda, but gave Brzenk all kinds of trouble that day.

I was pointing out the difference just to show that Christian's example was not a good one, but Jonathan pointed out that Christian was only being facetious and didn't care if his example was a perfect one or not. The difference between the matches was that Michael Todd won 2 out of the first 3 matches on the same day (if it had been tournament format, Michael Todd would have won). Devon Larratt has only beat Travis Bagent left handed 1 or 2 times out of many matches over a period of several years. Again, this whole point is moot because the conditions of the supermatch were "best of 6". I wouldn't have had to be in Manchester to make that observation.
Just curious why your anger was directed at me? I don't try to come across as "an expert", I just really enjoy armwrestling and love discussing it on this message board.

Is this post directed at what I said? The only clue is that you used initials like I did. I can't even make out what you are trying to say at the end of your post. Maybe you should tell Pete whatever it is you are trying to say and let him type it. I explained it in my post, maybe Pete can explain that for you.

Very cool. Thanks for your hard work.
What stuck out the most to me was how much Stallone made for that movie, $12 Million!

I'm glad you are having fun with it. He obviously got defensive and responded with an inappropriate personal remark. I think there is a difference between the MT vs. DL question and your comparison to DL vs. TB. Michael Todd actually won 2 out of the first 3 matches during their supermatch. Two losses puts you out of every tournament, which is the predominant method of competition in our "sport". In your example, Devon has only beat Travis left handed a couple times out of many many matches over many many years. For the record, I think it is unnecessary to bring up this conversation since the 6 round format was known ahead of time by both competitors. I certainly think Devon's approach would have been different if he knew going in that it was a best of 3 format.
