Mark Wilson (KY) defeated Ryan Barnett today at the Kentucky Strong Arm tournament. It was in the 220lb class, but Mark weighed in under 198lbs. Ryan was 199.5lbs. Mark Wilson slammed me, Jonathan Quinn, and Ryan today. He is definitely a legitimate top 5-7 puller right arm in the 198 class. He is freakish strong right now. He won't beat guys like Retarides or Casto, but I'd like to see him against anyone else on the list. I have never been pinned as violently as he did to me today!

I have only seen it obviously done once. We held a small tournament with decent prize money once and there were two pullers that were the obvious favorites in 2-3 classes. They laid down to one another throughout the day, with some strategy they had in mind. I didn't have a problem with it because there really wasn't anyone there to give them a challenge in those classes. Now in the heavyweight class, they had their hands full. I guess they were trying to stay as fresh as possible for their heavyweight matches. I personally have never got to be the beneficiary of a stronger teammate clearing out a better puller so I can place, but it has happened as a result of other pullers in the class. I have placed 2nd or 3rd in the past when I knew that I was the 4th or 5th best puller in the class. That is why I continue to pay the entry fee even after evaluating who is in the class. Kentucky Muscle is a good example. I think I took 6th last year when I can name 8-9 pullers that were better than me in that class. My take is that I don't see a problem with it. Sure it sucks for the guy who just had a battle and now has to pull the guy who is fresh because his teammate just let him win. This all falls in the "luck of the draw" in my opinion. It is very similar to Nascar; whoever gave that analogy. You work together to beat out the rest of the pack. The best guy will still win in the end. For the record, I hope I get to pull against Ryan Barnett tomorrow. I know he would never lay down for me and he knows what a milestone it would be for anyone he has trained to beat him. My chances are slim, but I'm definitely gonna give it all I got.

I will say that my vote for the next SEC Regional will be to have random draws. I am all for separating teammates in the first round, they don't necessarily have to be on the opposite side of the brackets. When Ryan Barnett and I first started hosting tournaments, I wouldn't even let Ryan compete to avoid an accusations of "home cooking". It wasn't until we realized that not everyone puts out the same quality as the USAA (Leonard and Denise) that I let Ryan compete at his own tournament (year 6). For the record, I promised my cousin Nathan Boyd that he wouldn't have to pull Ryan in the first round at Regionals-but he did. We didn't cry about it TK. I just think we must draw numbers to avoid any of this in the future.

<--This is how I had envisioned the Southeast Committee from the beginning, maybe with a little less vitriole. ;D AAA Nationals was in New York, so it wasn't very likely to have a large Southeast turnout. Fortunately, Christina was there and can give us the tidbit that Doug beat James Battles. Everyone knows the basic rule in our rankings: "Beat someone ahead of you and you take their spot". Christina, Giles, and Aaron, I've been trying to give some love to the Northern SE pullers, but my voice is weak amongst so many deep south reps.
One comment on Clint's win over Stump left handed. It was a straps only match, which to me should have no effect on our rankings. However, since Stump is saying to go with it-I'll vote for it.

Thanks guys. The positive feedback is motivating me to do more writing. I was just thinking this very thought. That's why I logged in to post, to hopefully motivate you to put in as much effort for the future segments. Eric, that was excellent. Very interesting and well written. Thank you.

I disagree. An arm break is not the only injury that can occur from pulling someone significantly stronger than you. My left arm is much weaker than my right, I am pulling open classes with it. Since I am somewhat uncoordinated with my left, I would not say that just because I know how to avoid an arm break-I can stay out of compromising positions. Last year at KY Muscle, when a high calibur puller hit and pinned me, I felt I had almost broken my forearm bone. I simply don't understand the sentiment to rush people along. It's their money and body, let them manage it as they so choose. Obviously, there are some who need to be pushed a little. Those few guys who still find enjoyment in slamming beginners. I guess they deceive themselves into thinking they are actually accomplishing something.

I wish we were in person to discuss this topic, because you keep emphasizing that we shouldn't use the law to judge others. That is not my intent in asking the question at all. I am genuinely seeking to know whether I am committing willful sin when/if I chose to eat pork/crab/shrimp/catfish? I have chosen to abstain from these foods at least until I can study more on the topic. From what you have brought to the discussion, it seems to support my belief that we should try to follow the law. Am I correct in discerning that?

•The hand is not part of the bat. Many people think that the hand is part of the bat and that a player shouldn't be awarded first if hit in the hand. This is incorrect. As long as the batter is attempting to get out of the way and is hit in the hand, then the correct call is to award the player first base.

I love the idea of a belt/trophy for the current #1 in the region. We would need to enforce an activity minimum so that the belt/trophy would be on the line at a minimum of every 4 months. I think a guaranteed $$$ incentive for the #1 to show to your tournament is a great idea. I'd say $100 guaranteed if the #1 shows up to pull at your tournament. The only problem is if you end up with 6-8 #1 guys and you don't have that kind of money available. I guess you could announce ahead of time that your #1 guarantee money is limited to example: the first 5 #1 ranked SE Pullers that RSVP and let me know they are coming. That way if a 6th or 7th guy decides that he wants to attend that tournament, he knows that he isn't guaranteed money. Or we could waive the entry fees anytime a #1 puller shows up at an SE tournament. This way the current #1 would carry sort of a "gift card" that would allow them free entry into any SE tournament. Belts are the most common award that is transferable.

Reasons for abortions In 2000, cases of rape or incest accounted for 1% of abortions.[26] Another study, in 1998, revealed that in 1987-1988 women reported the following reasons for choosing an abortion:[27]
25.5% Want to postpone childbearing 21.3% Cannot afford a baby 14.1% Has relationship problem or partner does not want pregnancy 12.2% Too young; parent(s) or other(s) object to pregnancy 10.8% Having a child will disrupt education or job 7.9% Want no (more) children 3.3% Risk to fetal health 2.8% Risk to maternal health 2.1% Other
What's interesting is how often you hear about abortion needs to be legal to protect the life of the mother or in cases of rape. Between 1967-1990, only 151 abortions were performed to "save the life of the mother". When most physicians are asked today, they cannot think of an instance where aborting the baby would save the mother's life. Only 1% of abortions are to terminate a pregnancy caused by rape or incest. So combined, the two cases that everyone likes to cite account for 1.004% of all abortions. It really is just about convenience or cleaning up after a bad decision. Depressing, really.

Inman is elite in the southeast and probably can pull with top 10 in the country and Casto is elite in the USA , top 5 no doubt. I don't know how I'm the only one that knows this. This is why we need more vocal representation from the northern states. I'm being called a "hero chaser" for pointing out head to head results. TK has some weird way of doing rankings, basically whoever he thinks would win today is all that matters. Even if the other guy proved it by winning 6 1/2 months ago.

"Hero Chasing"
I'm on here trying to use head to head results to create rankings and suggest my best friends shouldn't be #1 because they have never beat a certain puller.
If we are gonna disregard elite level, active pullers like Timothy Inman and Andrew Casto from our rankings- I do not want my name associated with these rankings for one more second. Without the top guys, the #1 will be a joke and I will not have my name associated with such garbage.
